What are Baby Lunch Boxes?
Baby lunch boxes are essential items that need to enter your list especially if your kid is starting school soon. Your child must have lunch at school or the nursery. Nowadays, you have a wide variety of school food carriers, also called lunch boxes or bento boxes. They are essential and they make that everyday task much easier, too. Lunch boxes have evolved a lot over time. The classic metal lunch boxes were left behind, then Tupperware arrived. The baby lunch boxes are essential for preschoolers and school-age children. Asides from being useful at school, they are very useful when your children go camping, on excursions, or any event that requires transporting food.
How to Choose the Best Baby Lunch Boxes?
There are generally two main types of lunch boxes. These are bento flasks and those carried on the back.
- Bento flasks: The bento flask type is one that is carried with the hands and sometimes on the shoulders. They are often stackable and feature several smaller flasks or compartments.
- Regular lunch boxes: These are boxes with multiple compartments, between two to six. They come with lunch bags. They have adjustable straps and some even have a snap handle that is attached to the rod of wheeled backpacks. This makes it easier to load them!
What Features Should You Consider When Buying a Baby Lunch Box?
By watching out for the following features, you’ll be choosing one of the best models out there:
- Choose models with resistant and comfortable materials: In some models, injected plastic is used, that is, the lunch box is a precast, hard and resistant piece. These are smaller products that are very easy to clean. Other lunch boxes are manufactured from fabrics, such as nylon and polyester. These are lighter, longer-lasting, and aesthetically more beautiful. Finally, there are the mixed models, where the back and the handles are made of fabric, while the main part of the product is made of plastic, usually PVC. They are the most common and resistant types of lunchboxes.
- Check the dimensions of the lunch box: The size of the lunch box will depend, mainly, on the amount of food you will send to school or outing. Children who study for a few hours a day may carry a smaller lunch box, about 20 cm high and wide and 8 cm deep. Children who study full-time, on the other hand, need a larger lunch box, so we recommend a large or medium size, about 25 cm high, 20 cm wide, and 15 cm deep.
- Prefer products with at least 2 dividers: It is always good to purchase a product with as many dividers as possible so that you can organize your child’s snack or food in the best way. However, most models that we find available on the market have a maximum of five to six compartments.
- Lunch bags: The inclusion of a bag doesn’t really affect the price compared to if you have to buy one separately. So it’s cost-effective to choose a model with a lunch bag, even if you have to pay that extra $3 to $5.
